The Trans-Canada Highway is closed between Revelstoke and Golden after a serious MVI that occurred sometime before 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Limited information is available. First responder scanner talk indicates the incident involved at least two transport trucks colliding head-on, causing one fatality. These details have not been confirmed officially, and the Times Review has only limited confidence in this description.
BC Coroners Service spokesperson Barb McLintock said she didn't have information on the incident as of 3:20 p.m. An RCMP spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
It snowed overnight in Revelstoke, leaving about 10 to 15 centimetres on the ground. Snow continued intermittently during the day.

UPDATE: RCMP confirm fatality
Revelstoke RCMP officer Cst. Gary McLaughlin confirmed that one man is dead following an MVI between two tractor-trailers on the Trans-Canada Highway at about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1.
The incident occurred just east of the Canyon Hot Springs resort, roughly 35 kilometres east of Revelstoke.
McLaughlin said a westbound tractor-trailer collided with an eastbound tractor-trailer head-on, killing the driver of the westbound truck.
Traffic incident reconstructionists are still sorting out the cause, but McLaughlin said a preliminary investigation found that speed was not a factor, but weather was. One of the trucks had jack-knifed ahead of the impact.
McLaughlin said the crash was violent, describing it as, "one of the worst I've ever seen."
Revelstoke RCMP and first responders had an extremely busy day on highways and roadways, dealing with seven crashes and MVIs. They involved cars, trucks and even a snowplow.
Cst. McLaughlin said that all the incidents were speed-related, with the exception of the fatal crash.
