Update 2 p.m.

Lake Country RCMP, Kelowna RCMP, and the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant on 10346 Copper Hill Place, Lake Country the afternoon of April 16.

During the search, police found evidence of additional criminal offences and the decision was made to clear and secure the house.

The search warrant is still being conducted on Wednesday, and RCMP are not releasing any further details at this time.

Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Michael Gauthier said in an email there is no concern for public safety.

“I’d like to use this opportunity to explain how fortunate we are to have a full time Emergency Response Team in the Southeast District and available to us. There is a misconception that when ERT is involved, something violent has already happened when in fact the majority of the time it’s our most effective way of preventing something violent from occurring.”

Original 10:30 a.m.

The focus of their presence appeared to be on 10346 Copper Hill Place. Firefighters were seen ventilating the house once the road had reopened around 5 p.m.

RCMP has called the fire department back in to assist with ventilating the house again.
