Weather warnings for Coquihalla Highway

Conditions are expected to be snowy Dec. 3 with rain starting Dec. 4

Conditions on the Coquihalla aren’t looking favourable to start the week.

The highway is expected to see 15 centimetres of snowfall through the day Sunday (Dec. 3) causing wet and slippery conditions. A snowfall warning is in effect between Hope and Merritt.

Monday night into Tuesday (Dec. 5), as much as 60 millimetre of rainfall is in the forecast. Heavy rains increase the risk of floods and landslides.

It’s always a good idea to have a bag packed in case of emergencies. If you are travelling consider, putting together an emergency kit including water, a blanket, non-perishable foods, a battery powered radio, a fire extinguisher, a flashlight, a first aid kit, and a roadmap.
