July 4, 1952 - June 4, 2019
Elaine passed away suddenly and peacefully at her home in Lumby, BC, at the age of 66 years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019, in Revelstoke BC, location TBA.
Elaine was born in Revelstoke, BC to Ken and Eva Cameron. She grew up there with her younger sister, Karen. Elaine was married to Ray Cretelli in 1972 and had 3 children: Kim, Heather and Ryan. She remained in Revelstoke to raise her family while working initially at CP Rail and later as a care aide at Moberly Manor. In 1997, she was married to Tim Buchanan, gaining a step-son, Kenny Buchanan, as well as being welcomed into another big family. In 1999, she moved to Vernon with Tim where they lived for 14 years. She continued her railway career working in the office at Kelowna Pacific Railway, while enjoying the Okanagan sunshine and her many fabulous gardens. During this time her children got married and the family expanded once again. Elaine was very proud to be called Nana by her many grandchildren: MacKenzie, Brityn, Hadlee and Rayne Cretelli of Lumby, BC, Kaes Blommestein of Revelstoke, BC, and most recently, Brian Buchanan, of Abbotsford, BC. Upon retirement, they returned to Revelstoke for a few years before moving to Lumby at the end of 2017.
Elaine was very talented in many areas and enjoyed numerous activities. The railway and anything to do with trains was a life-long passion of hers. She could sew anything with flair and style. Elaine's amazing green-thumb was evident wherever she lived throughout her life. She enjoyed camping and travelling and took many photographs of all of her adventures. She loved music and never hesitated to dance, no matter where she happened to be. She was an excellent cook and baker, and happily shared these skills often with her many grandchildren and family. Her large family was very important to her and she will be dearly missed by all.
