We regret the passing of Erma Laura Todd

(nee Claggett, 1915 – 2009).


Erma was born in Melfort, Sask., November 30th 1915. She was the middle daughter of James and Anne Claggett. She was pre-deceased by sister, Vera and brothers, Clifford and Kirby. Her sister Faye resides in Alaska. After graduation Erma took a bookkeeping course in Saskatoon and then returned to Melfort to work for her dad. Erma married Edwin (Ted) Todd in 1939. Daughter, Carol was born in Melfort in 1940, son, David arrived two years later in Rosetown, Sask. The family moved to Field, BC in 1943. Son, Jim was born in 1950 in Banff, AB. In 1953 the family moved to Revelstoke. That year the Revelstoke Credit Union was started from her house on 6th Street. In the years that followed, Erma was a faithful and valued manager. In their years in Revelstoke, Erma was a Kinette and held office in the Ladies of Royal Purple. She belonged to a bowling League and enjoyed ceramics. She was a great cook and an excellent hostess and she really loved to dance.


Erma and Ted retired to Mara Lake where Ted passed away in 1987. Due to a chronic illness, Erma spent the last 20 years of her life in care. She was enjoyed by the staff at Heritage Village (Chilliwack) and they took good care of her. On their visits, the family loved her sense of humour. Erma leaves behind daughter Carol (Gerald) Conkin in Castlegar, granddaughter Laurie (Tom) Irving and great-grandchildren Taylor and Kyle in Surrey, BC, grandson Bret (Heather) Conkin and great-grandsons Luke and Liam in West Vancouver, son David (Arlette) in Laurier, MB, grandson Chris in Chilliwack, grandson Scott (Puspa) and great-grandson Edwin in Brandon, MB, son Jim (Susan) and granddaughter Shannon in Chilliwack. Erma was pre-deceased by twin grandsons Kory and Kevin Conkin. She will be remembered for her love, sincerity, devotion, friendship and giving nature! Erma passed March 9, 2009. She has been cremated and will be interred with her beloved husband at the Sicamous Cemetary.
