July 31, 1941 - July 22, 2020
Jim passed away peacefully at Mount Cartier Court in Revelstoke the morning of July 22, 2020 after a two-year battle with dementia.
Jim was born in Duncan, B.C. on July 31, 1941; the youngest of two sons born to Bess (Elizabeth) F. Lines (nee Dwyer) and George A. Lines.
He spent his early years in Duncan, moving with his family to Creston, B.C. in 1947 where he enjoyed the leisurely pace of the small-town atmosphere. In 1952 the family moved to Revelstoke where Jim continued to reside until his death at age 78.
As a teenager, Jim loved cars and was an avid dancer. He joined the Army cadets where he excelled, setting a high standard for his fellow recruits. Jim spent several summers at Cadet Camp in Vernon. After graduating from High School, he became a Stockman for the Ministry of Transportation and Highways in 1963 where he worked until the Ministry privatized its operations in 1988. Jim continued to work as a Warehouseman for the assigned road contractors in Revelstoke from that point until his retirement.
On May 16, 1970 at the age of 28, Jim married Alice-Faye Lines (nee Embree). They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Mount Cartier Court where they both resided at the time.
Jim was predeceased by his father in 1984, and his mother in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Alice-Faye, and his brother Bob (Diane) Lines. He is also missed by his many nieces and nephews, Bill, Jim, Gary, Debbie, Dianne, Michelle, Ken, Jayne, Leanne, Alan, and their families.
A small private Celebration of Life gathering took place at Brandon Bowers Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 31, 2020. This day would have been Jim's 79th birthday. A private family interment followed on August 5th, 2020 at Mountain View Cemetery in Revelstoke.
The family would like to express its' deepest thanks and gratitude to the many wonderful staff and caregivers at Mount Cartier Court and Revelstoke Queen Victoria Hospital, as well as Dr. Kate McCarroll and Dr. Cam Molder for caring for Jim during his illness.
