In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Jean Evelyn "Jeanie" Elrick. Jeanie passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, at the age of 78. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
Jeanie was born in Kamloops, B.C. on June 13, 1944, and was raised in Chase where she became an accomplished swimmer. She met her high school sweetheart Jerry in Haig B.C and they married in September 1961. The couple moved around to many towns while Jerry worked in construction. Her warm and infectious personality ensured Jeanie made many friends and she was always ready for some fun.
Jeanie had a very successful career in the Hospitality Industry which began with working with her mom Nora at a restaurant in Hope B.C. when she was very young. The highlight of her career was working at the Pan Pacific Convention Center; a huge accomplishment where she was the Head Steward in charge of all the catering around Vancouver, including international events in the United States.
The simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Jeanie who enjoyed walking the Green Belt, having happy hours, gardening, canning, playing cards, and reading. She also loved fishing and camping with her family and friends. In fact, during a snowstorm in March 1986, she caught a Gerrard Rainbow that broke records. Jeanie was also active with the Royal Canadian Legion and the Senior Citizens' Association.
In November 1991, Jeanie married Garth and they travelled to many places and enjoyed life with their family and friends. She loved debating with Telus regarding her bill and leaving notes around her home to 'remind' her family of what needed to be done. Jeanie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and the reason for her bright, expressive smiles.
Jeanie was predeceased by her parents, in-laws, sisters Della and Kay, brother Melvin and her first husband Jerry Volpatti. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Garth of Revelstoke; three children: Tony (Lana) Volpatti of Revelstoke, Shane (Karen) Volpatti of Revelstoke and Gerilee (David) Kermack of Radium; six grandchildren: Aaron (Michelle), Bri (Tally), Kyle (Holly), Bryan (Sarah), Jerry (Marisa) and Kevin (Katy); eight great-grandchildren: Finn, Lily, Rocco, Matteo, Scarlet, Oliver, Alexander, and Evelyn as well as many special friends.
Messages of sympathy may be sent to Jeanie's family at: www.brandonbowersfuneralhome.com.
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
