It is with great sadness we announce the death of Jessie Marie Olson. She passed on April 2, 2023, at QVH at the age of 81. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Jessie was born January 8, 1942, in Vancouver, BC, and was adopted soon after by Alec and Margaret Cassidy who were living in Cranbrook.
After spending her early years in Cranbrook and Kamloops her family settled in Revelstoke and she loved it so much she never left.
Jessie married George Olson August 26, 1961, and was thrilled to be joining his large tight-knit family. Jessie loved helping organize family events and catching up with family near and far.
Jessie worked at Queen Victoria Hospital in housekeeping for 30 years, eventually retiring as head housekeeper. Jessie made many lifelong friends during her years at the hospital and enjoyed catching up for coffee or lunch at Emo's at any opportunity.
Jessie raised two children, Barb and Randy and always opened her house and her fridge to their many friends.
Jessie was the proudest grandma and even from across Canada she was very active in the lives of their grandchildren. No one was happier than Jessie when Barb and her family decided to move back to Revelstoke to be closer.
George and Jessie took their grandkids on countless adventures across BC and Alberta and loved showing them all their favourite places.
After the passing of her husband George in 2015 Jessie moved into the Mt Begbie Manor villas and loved the community of friends she made there.
Jessie was predeceased by her husband of 53 years George; her parents, Alec and Marie Cassidy and her son-in-law Bob Brummitt.
She is survived by her children, Barb and Randy; her grandchildren, Cassie (Sergio), Allie (Adrian), Cole (Jenna); her great grandchildren, Ava, Isla, Mela, Enzo, Josh and Harper as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jessie's life will be held at a later date.
