Merle Jones passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital on October 12, 2022. She was born on March 1, 1928, at Nelson, B.C.
Merle was a tried-and-true Kootenay original, growing up in Sandon, B.C. until she was five years old. When Merle lost her mother in a tragic accident at Sandon, she was then raised by her aunt and uncle with her siblings and cousins at New Denver, B.C.
When Merle married Les Jones, she lived in Canal Flats, Arrowhead and Invermere before moving to Revelstoke in 1966. Merle was always working to provide for the family. Her last job was to become a realtor later in life working for Hugh Storr Realty and retiring from ReMax Realty in Revelstoke.
Merle had a lot of perseverance and just got on with what had to be done. She enjoyed many activities including gardening, golfing, swimming, reading, the Red Hat Society and her grandchildren. Merle was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Merle was predeceased by her parents Neil and Ethel, her husband Leslie Jones and her siblings Neil, Jean, and Audie. She is survived by her children: Ronda (Gary) Murdock, Erle (Maria) Jones, Jim (Melanie) Jones and Neil (Theresa) Jones; grandchildren: Trevor, Nicole, Derek, Jarred, Britney, Kodi and Jaana and her great grandchildren and great, great grandchild.
The family would like to thank Dr. Macleod and all the staff at Mt. Cartier Court for her care.
