December 8, 1938 - October 4, 2021
In Loving Memory ~ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Jerry) Gerald Munro on October 4th, 2021. In a romantic gesture, Jerry chose to leave us on what would have been his 63rd wedding anniversary... to be with his bride Marie, and eldest daughter Tammy. Jerry passed with bravery and calmness, surrounded with love.
Jerry was born in Moose Jaw Sask. on December 8th, 1938 and lived most of his youth in Regina. Jerry joined the Navy, seeking adventure at the age of seventeen. While stationed in Esquimalt BC, he met the love of his life, Marie. They married and went on to have four daughters.
Jerry and Marie eventually left the island and enjoyed many fun times together, as well as many struggles. Their fondest memory was moving to Rock Creek BC in 1974, and starting a farm from scratch, living a true 70's lifestyle, and raising their family. They also lived in Douglas Lake and Vancouver BC. T
hey eventually retired in Revelstoke in 2000, to be closer to family. Dad cherished the outdoors and saw much of the backcountry by either motorcycle, bike, or on his beloved horse Chinook. Those who got to know Jerry, enjoyed his outgoing personality and often outrageous sense of humour.
Jerry was heavily involved in political life and advocated for social change for the working class and the climate. One of his biggest regrets, was not living long enough to see true change for the better in the world.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents Mildred and Robert, his wife Marie, daughter Tammy, and his two brothers Alan and Dale.
He is survived by his sister Sharon, three daughters; Roxana Munro of New Westminster, Sharon (Jack) Boruch, and Yvette (Doug) Pendergast both from Revelstoke, eight grandchildren: Kevin, Kim, Sheena, Megan, Jeralee, Cass, Mitch and Carly. He also has twelve great-grandchildren and was overjoyed with each new addition. He also left behind his cherished cat, Foxy.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Jerry in the spring of 2022.
Jerry will be very missed by many who knew him. In his words... Peace, Love, and Revolution to all.
