Mount Revelstoke is continuing its centennial celebration with a special Parks Day event on Saturday, July 19.

The day is a two-parter, with a short hike followed by a "Jam-bear-ee" at the Nels Nelsen chalet.

The hike begins at 1 p.m. from the Nels Nelsen chalet. Hikers will join superintendent Nick Irving for a two kilometre walk up the Summit Trail to the Monashee Lookout. Along the way, interpreters dressed as historical characters such as Nels Nelsen and Eva Hobbs will tell the story of the park. Afterwards, you can hike back down, or catch a free shuttle bus.

The celebration continues from 4–7 p.m. at the Nels Nelsen Chalet, with music, food and other fun activities. The Chris Stevens Family Bluegrass Band will provide the entertainment, while food vendors will be on hand to fill bellies. For kids, a bicycle obstacle course will be set up, and there will arts & crafts, face painting, button making and more.
