Revelstoke native Aaron Volpatti was re-signed to a one-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks, the team announced Friday.

Volpatti, 27, scored one goal and had 37 penalty minutes in 23 games for the Canucks last season. His season was cut short by a nagging shoulder injury that required surgery in December.

Volpatti, who grew up a Canucks fan, was first signed to a two-year contract by the Canucks as a free agent out of Brown University in March 2010.

Over the course of two seasons with the team he recorded two goals and one assist in 38 games, along with 53 penalty minutes. The 6'1",185 lbs. forwards is known for his hard hits and willingness to drop the gloves.

The terms of the salary were not released.
