The North Okanagan Knights took a beating from the Revelstoke Grizzlies Friday, Dec. 1, when the Grizzlies put up 55 shots in a 5-2 win.
The Knights only mustered 13 shots, making it one of the most lopsided shot totals of the season for the team.
The power plays were clicking for both teams as the Knights scored both their goals with the man advantage and Revelstoke scored three powerplay goals on five Knights penalties.
Seven minutes into the game, Jake Neufeld scored his seventh goal of the season on the power play to give the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead. Nicholas Buckley scored a little over a minute later to extend the lead to 2-0.
Neufeld then struck again on the powerplay, scoring five minutes into the second period, assisted by Alexander Bronswyk and Brady Augot.
Towards the end of the second, Colton McLeod scored to give the Grizzlies a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the third.
The Knights got to work on the power play in the final frame, getting goals from Gage Parrell and Laszlo Istvanffy, but the Grizzlies’ David Ander scored with the man advantage midway through the third to bring the game to its final score of 5-2.
The Knights have fallen to the basement of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League’s Bill Ohlhausen division with 13 points in 22 games. The Grizzlies are third in the Doug Birks division with 28 points in 19 games and have games in hand on the teams in front of them.
The Knights are back in action tonight (Dec. 2) on the road against the 100 Mile House Wranglers at 7 p.m. The Grizzlies also play tonight, at home against the Chase Heat at 7 p.m.
