A Vernon resident was able to capture sensational footage of the downtown Vernon blaze that engulfed six businesses on Tuesday (July 4) morning.

Shawn Goodison flew his drone up near the blaze early on Tuesday. The video shows at least four firetrucks, along with dozens of firefighters blasting water into the thick smoke and flames.

No one was injured in the blaze, yet six businesses: Vernon Centre Pawn, The Cauldron Metaphysical Shop, Eunike Consignment, Jax & King Salon, Classy Canine Grooming and The Okanagan Eatery were destroyed. A man and his dog also lost their home.

GoFundMe’s have been set up for a majority of the businesses.

The RCMP is currently looking for additional information on the fire. If you have any insight, contact Const. Josh Baron at the non-emergency line of 250-545-7171. Or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leaving a tip online at nokscrimestoppers.com. You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers. If you provide information that leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
