NCES objects to Minister Thomson’s IPP reasoning

I am writing in regard to last week’s letter to the editor by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Steve Thomson. It should be noted that the NCES is not opposed to all Independent Power Projects (IPPs) but that we are strongly opposed to the government’s lack of a cumulative impact assessment -- which would not look at each IPP in isolation, but would rather consider the overall impact of these projects cumulatively and at the landscape level.

Macdonald: You make the decision about who’s in charge

My job as your MLA is to represent your views in the Legislature in Victoria. You tell me what is important to you, and I do my best to put forward those priorities. This is an important part of ensuring that our democracy is functioning. You need to have faith that your MLA is working for you.

Minister’s letter amounts to lobbying for private IPP company

Things must be slow in Victoria is my opinion regarding your pointed criticism of a small town news reporter Aaron Orlando of the Revelstoke Time Review. The humorous irony is a Minister of the Crown berating a small community newspaper for expressing a strongly held community perspective and then calling for a “balanced view.” I have no doubt your written rebuke will have its intended chilling affect sir.
