Branching out: Making a glass ball at Big Eddy Glassworks

Last month Leah Allison of Big Eddy Glassworks invited me to try glass blowing.

I was her first student in what will be a series of workshops that are open to anyone in the community.

It was a blast! Allison gives easy to follow instructions, and after the safety briefing I knew exactly what to do to avoid burning myself. The class was a perfect amount of time and I felt like I actually had an hand in creating the ball instead of standing back and watching Allison do all of the work. Lucky she did take over at times though, otherwise it would have been a Christmas blob instead of a ball.
