The Revelstoke Men’s Hockey League donated $2,000 to help support the upcoming U13 Tier 4 Provincial Championships.

The Revelstoke U13 hockey team will be hosting the U13 Tier 4 Provincial Championships from March 17–20.

The tournament will begin with a banquet on March 16. Team manager, Melissa Sessa has been busy helping the team fundraise.

Some of their fundraising efforts have included selling ad space in their programs, an online 50/50 draw where Sessa said the winner can take home $10,000, and a raffle with lots of donated activities from the town.

The tournament also received $2,000 from the Revelstoke Men’s Hockey League and $2,000 from the Revelstoke History of Hockey organization.

The opening ceremony will take place at 5:45 p.m. at the Revelstoke Forum featuring a performance by the Revelstoke Skating Club and a speech from Councillor Matt Cherry.

As for the players, Sessa said “they’ve been practicing really hard, they’ve had extra practices and have really been focusing for the big event.”

Besides Revelstoke, the players on the Revelstoke team come from Sicamous, Nakusp and New Denver. For more information about the tournament, you can visit the tournament’s Facebook page.
