Last month was a busy one for the Revelstoke Fire Services.
In a Facebook post, Revelstoke Fire Services shared its call summary. Crews received 48 calls for fire, medical first response, highway crash rescues, CO alarms, and multi-residential fire alarms, as well as 138 “cumulative calls.”
The post further explained approximately 50 per cent of the calls were related to medical and rescue emergencies. As for the other calls, public assistance and fire calls made up the rest of the calls the Fire Service received.
Five new recruits were trained and are now active members of the service.

Following the recruitment, eight new community members have been accepted into the volunteer training program. The program will run over the next six months as they learn the necessary skills needed to assist the community.
When not responding to calls, fire crews were supporting the community in other ways.
While they may not have taken home the trophy in the Revelstoke Winter Carnival Outhouse Races, they finished in second place.

The fire service also joined the community to welcome and celebrate Special Olympic athlete Yorke Parkin when he returned home to Revelstoke with his gold medal in hand.

The firefighters were also busy raising money for the community as they presented a cheque of $6,000 for Trees for Tots. They were able to fundraise the money with their annual Boot Drive and the firefighters vs police hockey game.
