A U.K. man recently built a bicycle entirely out of wood, with no plastic or metal parts. Everything, including the wheels, gears, and seat, are wood. Inventor Michael Thompson, who made the “SplinterBike” on a bet with a friend, says it can travel up to 50 kilometres an hour.

I would like to congratulate Mr. Abbott on his retirement from politics. While I can’t think of anything he has done for Revelstoke (except to continually remind us of the gun registry) in the almost 20 years he served, I am sure he will enjoy his pension.

Revelstoke Bear Aware Community Coordinator Janette Vickers has been working with Ron Larsen and Jeff Bolingbroke at Parks Canada to create a Google Earth Map to view bear sightings on the Revelstoke Bear Aware website.
